ST PETERSBURG CELEBRATORY TOUR 2010
OUR ST PETERSBURG TOUR 2010 CELEBRATES THE 300TH
ANNIVERSARY OF
TSARSKOYE SELO
SATURDAY 24th – FRIDAY 30th JULY 2010
Visit St Petersburg and the Tsars Village in utter luxury!
Our amazing tour will be to celebrate the 300th Anniversary
of Tsarskoye Selo and the whole programme has been designed to show Palaces,
Parklands and Museum Collections that have not been seen on our previous tours.
It will be the 18th year that St Petersburg Collection has brought Collectors
and their friends to this Imperial capital.

We compose
our programme in cooperation with the Curators and Directors of the Palaces and
Museums, and many of the features we include are not available on any other
tour. Our association with Theo Fabergé and his direct descent from the Imperial
Warrant-Holder ensure special attention wherever we go!
The highlights of the Tour will include
- A fabulous black tie dinner to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Tsarskoye Selo.
- With the sun shining, sailing off from the river Neva, a trip to Elagin Island
by boat. Dinner will be in the Elagin Palace.
- We will visit newly opened areas of the Peterhof Palaces and Parks. The
magnificent summer residence of the Imperial Family is famous for its cascades
and fountains, and some of the palaces will be opened that day solely for our
guests. We will be shown rooms and the private pavilions not normally open to
the public. Visit to the Coat of Arms Pavilion.
- The Hermitage’s Director will welcome us to the State Hermitage Museum, where
we will see rooms and collections we have not seen previously. In the
afternoon we are invited to explore the Hermitage restoration and conservation
workshops.
The British Consul will invite us for a cocktail party as part of the 300th
Anniversary celebrations and then relax for the evening at the St Petersburg
ballet.
- The Director will be your host when you visit the Palaces and Gardens of
Tsarskeyo Selo including the famous Amber Room, and Alexander Palace. We will
be royally entertained and see the restored cathedral at Catherine’s Palace
for the first time. You will witness the presentation of Theo Fabergé’s
Tsarskoye Selo’s 300th Anniversary Egg.
- By Special Invitation - a visit to Eltsin’s Library newly restored and a first
for our group.
- Visit Sheremetev Palace with its museum of musical instruments, and the Palace
of Grand Duke Vladimir (the President of The Academy of Fine Arts.)
- A separate visit to Pavlosk Palace. See the amazing tapestries, porcelain and
so much more.
- One thing we are not changing - we shall again stay at the elegant Hotel
Astoria, overlooking the gold dome of St Isaac’s Cathedral. Built in 1912, the
Astoria is one of the most highly respected hotels in northern Europe. The
accommodation includes all the comforts of a 5 star hotel and is the Hotel
used by Prime Minister Putin’s guests.
The price of this remarkable and fully escorted tour including
our chairman Philip Birkenstein will include:
Six nights’ accommodation in a double/twin room at the Astoria Hotel –
All meals (except one lunch and one dinner) in some of St Petersburg’s most
interesting restaurants. The lunch is excluded as we do not wish to leave the
Hermitage but there are plenty of cafes within. The dinner is a free evening for
you to choose your restaurant, but naturally we will help you to select if you
wish. Alcoholic drinks are not included except for the Black Tie Dinner.
Return British Airways flights from London Heathrow to Pulkova St Petersburg
Airport (economy).
Visa support.
Our superb guide, whose knowledge of St Petersburg and its history is second to
none, will accompany the group for the whole week.
The price is £2 995 + £100 UK administration charge per person.
